Today, I was discussing with my client the importance for women to 'open up' their chest and abdomen. It's a common posture for women (and men) to hold their stress and trauma especially in their breasts and abdomen. You will see this as the very common shoulders slumping forward and arms in front of the body almost like a protection mechanism. Often times done without even recognizing you're doing it.
The breasts are connected to your 4th Chakra - our Heart Chakra. Each of our Chakras serve a purpose in supplying life energy to each organ. The 4th Chakra is all about nourishing and caring for ourselves and others. This includes our heart, lungs, upper spine, shoulders and breasts!
Our breasts represent maternal love and nourishment and it needs to be replenished daily otherwise it will lead to health problems such as dis-ease in these organs - including the breasts.
When women put their own emotional and personal needs on the back burner, which our culture has been programming this in us so we way too often do this - our heart Chakra will become imbalanced. This will present itself as anger, fatigue, resentment, etc.
Many of my clients ask to massage their back, neck, shoulders, etc. But when was the last time you considered breast or abdomen massage?
