Berry Spinach Smoothie

Updated: Feb 16, 2022

Decided to make another smoothie recipe. It is very similar to my very berry smoothie except I added some greens and flaxseed oil. Yes, that's right - Flaxseed oil. Ever hear of? I'm loving the benefits of flaxseed oil. It's high in Omega 3 fatty acids which is very beneficial for us. It is known to reduce inflammation in the body, great for brain and heart health. Struggle with constipation or diarrhea? It's helpful for that too. It is even part of cancer treatment protocols! You can read more here if you like.

It really isn't much of a different colour from my other smoothie recipe so I decided to use the same picture - I'll eventually photo shoot the new one though and update it!

I used the same organic mixed berry mix from Costco as I did for the very berry smoothie. It looks like this:

I'm sure you could use any mixed berry mix though! Again the recipe can be versatile. It can make 1 large smoothie with a total of 3 cups of fruits and veggies or 2 small smoothies. 3 cups of your veggie intake in one meal is pretty awesome! I'll be posting about a 9 cups a day veggie/fruit intake challenge I will start in January soon. This will be great for that. Stay tuned for more info!

Berry Spinach Smoothie:

Ingredients:

1/3 cup filtered water

2/3 cup Organic Plain Kefir OR Coconut Yogurt

Dollop of Local raw unpasteurized honey (Optional!)

2 tbsp seeds (chia, flax, pumpkin, hemp hearts, etc.)

2 cups organic mixed berries

1 cup raw (fresh or frozen) spinach OR kale

I use a vitamix but any blender would be fine I'm sure. Put the liquid first adding ingredients in order listed. You may need to add a little extra water if needed for desired consistency. I prefer a thicker consistency myself.

Enjoy
