Honestly, there is nothing like the smell of apples and cinnamon throughout your house while baking! Mmmm! So delicious. This recipe is ancient ;) and belonged to my Grandmother, my mother's mother, who I was not fortunate enough to have the pleasure of meeting in this lifetime. I hear such great memories and stories of how amazing she was as a person.

Apple Crisp Recipe:
Ingredients:
6 Cups Apples(I prefer Macintosh but these wild apples worked great), peeled and chopped
1 Tbsp Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Filtered Water
3/4 Cup Muscovado Sugar (or your sugar of preference)
3/4 Cup Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking Flour OR Sprouted wheat flour OR All Purpose Flour
1 tsp or More Ground Cinnamon
1/3 Cup Butter OR Coconut oil, melted
To start, preheat over at 375 degrees. Grease a casserole dish of approximately 8"-9" in size with coconut oil or butter. You don't have to peel the apples but I prefer to. I peel them and dice them up. I throw them into the casserole dish and put the water and lemon juice in and stir it around. Set this aside.
In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour and cinnamon. I like to add more cinnamon - I love cinnamon. Melt the coconut oil or butter. Pour into the flour/sugar mixture and mix well. It will be a crumbly texture like the above picture. Sprinkle over top of the apples. Throw it into the oven. Bake approximately 35-40 minutes or until apples are soft and top is slightly crispy.
I love this served warm. Growing up my Dad often had this with some vanilla ice cream so that reminds me of my childhood. It would be great with some whipped cream (coconut or dairy) too.
Enjoy
